Fighting for a Cure: In Loving Memory of My Dad
Dementia is a cruel and relentless disease. It steals away memories, moments, and connections — piece by piece — long before it claims a life. Watching my dad live through it, and slowly lose parts of himself each day, was one of the hardest journeys I have ever walked. It is a kind of grief that never waits for goodbye; you mourn each memory lost while your loved one is still standing in front of you.
This work — the fight for better treatments, better support, and ultimately a cure — is deeply personal for me. It's my way of staying connected to my dad, honouring his life, and carrying forward his spirit. It’s also my promise to every family who wakes up each day fighting alongside someone they love, witnessing the heartbreaking erosion of who they once knew.
I fight for my dad.
I fight for the families living with this silent heartbreak.
I fight for everyone facing dementia now, and for those who may face it in the future.
In loving memory of my dad, and in honour of all those living with dementia — your stories, your memories, and your love are not forgotten.
I'm making the impossible, possible, by taking part in Australia's Walk & Jog Challenge to raise much needed funds for dementia research.
I’m taking part in Australia's Walk & Jog Challenge by committing to raise much needed funds to support people impacted by dementia.
But I need your help! Please make a donation to support my efforts and help me to make the impossible, possible.
My fundraising will help support the work of Dementia Australia Research Foundation, funding innovative Australian research into dementia causes, diagnosis, treatment and one day a cure.
Thank you for your support.
