I'm making the impossible, possible, by taking part in Australia's Walk & Jog Challenge to raise much needed funds for dementia research.
Shae and I are taking part in Australia’s Walk & Jog Challenge by committing to raise as much needed funds to support people impacted by dementia.
As most of you know, Rob has Alzheimer’s disease. Looking back, the symptoms had been there for years, but it was shrugged off due to stress or fatigue. It then took another two years of testing before he was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s at only 63 years old.
A further 12 months later, we were told he has a rare form of Alzheimer’s called Posterior Cortical Atrophy (PCA). This affects the messages from the back of the brain to the eyes. His eyes can still see, but the brain doesn’t always process or understand what he is seeing. It also affects fine motor skills, writing, reading, spatial awareness and cognitive function. Because of these changes, he has also had to give up driving and has lost that independence.
More and more of our younger population are being diagnosed with this hideous disease.
But I need your help. Please consider making a donation to support my efforts and help turn the impossible into possible.
The fundraising will help support the work of the Dementia Australia Research Foundation, funding innovative Australian research into the causes of dementia, earlier diagnosis, better treatments, and one day hopefully a cure.
